- Stay over 100 feet from piers and jetties. Remember there may not yet be signage in place warning of the dangers
- Remember there may be submerged obstacles or dropoffs. Wear protective footwear when swimming and don’t dive in head first. Be alert to sudden changes in water depth in unusual areas.
- Check the Galveston County Health District’s website to monitor daily water quality and related advisories.
- When surfing, remember to be cautious of submerged obstacles, particularly near the rock jetties.
- The Beach Patrol strongly recommends that you do not swim on the west end of the island or in the area between 21st street and 24th street jetties - this advisory will continue for some time.
